Curt is an electrical engineer but applies his extensive industrial background to all facets of the design process including mechanical and energy engineering. In addition, he is the Principal in Charge of the MEP engineering group. Past and current projects involve the design and integration of fire protection, telecommunications, video distribution and surveillance, security, and data networks along with the fundamental building requirements for power distribution, lighting and energy efficient design. With his unique background and certification in telecommunications system design, all aspects of the project are included in a comprehensive design package. This system integration approach is applied to a wide variety of projects encompassing military, educational, commercial, medical and educational clients. Curt is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional and is responsible for the energy efficient design of the Library West Expansion(LEED Gold Rating) and Powell Structures Lab, (LEED Certified Rating) both at the University of Florida. He is a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer in Florida and Pennsylvania. Curt is also a (RCDD) Registered Communications Distribution Designer with (BICSI) Building Industry Consulting Services International. He is a member of (NFPA) National Fire Protection Association, (SAME) Society of American Military Engineers and senior member of (IEEE) Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers where he served as past section chairman. Curt has authored and presented six IEEE technical papers. Curt is a life member of the Eta Kappa Nu engineering honor society. Curt received his BSEE (1979) and MSIE (1988) from the University of Pittsburgh. He began his professional career as an engineer at Westinghouse Electric Company and later as a power electronics engineer at Robicon Corporation before joining Long & Associates in 1990. Curt is a licensed ham radio operator and an Eagle Scout. Curt and Susanne reside in northwest Hillsborough County.
