Paul joined Long & Associates in 2003 and became a Principal with the firm in 2006. As an architect, he has directed the design and renovation of commercial, educational, institutional buildings and large residential projects. He previously founded and ran Portal Architecture in Gainesville, Florida for 12 years His services have included all phases of work including initial client contact, space planning and space-use analysis, development of the building program, site planning, design, cost estimating, production of construction drawings and construction administration services. Paul has 22 years experience with educational, governmental, institutional and private work. He is Principal-in-Charge of theprojects to expand and renovate both to the Safety Harbor Public Library in Pinellas County and the W.T. Bland Library in Mt. Dora. He also serves Government clients, School Boards Colleges and Universities from Alachua County to Sarasota County. Paul is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional and has demonstrated his Green Building Design Skills on several projects, including the Flagship Library West Expansion at the University of Florida. He is a Florida Registered Architect, NCARB member, an active member of the American Institute of Architects, the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Paul was the recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi Medal for Scholarship, Leadership & Professionalism. Paul received his Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Florida in 1984 and earned his Master of Architecture with honors in 1987, from the University of Florida. He was an adjunct Professor at the University of Florida teaching undergraduate design studios. His areas of design expertise include urban planning, day lighting, and acoustics. Paul has one son and resides in St. Petersburg, Florida. He is an artist and golfer.
