This project involved site rehabilitation, structural assessment, and a total 54,397 GSF renovation/addition, rebuilding a former call center facility to create a new public health unit serving Pinellas County.

The existing building was gutted down to the structural frame and roof.  The building envelope was rehabilitated to create a high-performance, high-efficiency building upgraded to meet current building code requirements for 130/mph wind resistance.  The work included reconstruction of the exterior roof and wall envelope, all new interior construction and finishes, new chilled water multi-zone HVAC systems, ductwork & VAV system, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems, stair and 2nd floor structures and an elevator.  A new generator provides emergency power.

The design features a vibrant and inviting facade combined with colorful interiors to provide a pleasant client experience that reflects the character and environment of the local community. This facility includes a primary care clinic, dental clinic, offices, and records storage for 6 administrative and program operations departments including an Environmental Health department with corresponding lab space, and a detached public conference center.  The Environmental Lab functions include the county dispatch of Environmental Scientists to collect vermin and water quality samples to test for a wide variety of diseases and public health issues.  The lab serves as an all-purpose testing and dissection facility to process animal, plant, and water samples.
