Strawberry Crest High School
Long & Associates created a master plan for a 105-acre site with an elementary, middle, and high school. The plan includes shared facilities and utilities, such as stormwater and a 9,590 SF building.
Long & Associates produced a master plan for this 105-acre site organizing a new elementary school, middle school, and high school. The plan provides for a major controlled entry point as well as shared use of facilities and utilities. The stormwater and utility design includes a 9,590 SF building and chiller yard with shared retention, fire water, and potable water among all 3 schools.
Designed as a prototype, this 271,605 GSF 2-story high school is sited on 57 acres. Educational facilities include 2,500 student stations, special use classrooms, agriculture lab, chemistry lab, culinary arts lab, a media center, computer labs, TV studio, food service and dining, gymnasium, 650-seat theatre style auditorium, music suite, full-service clinic, administration suite, and general storage. Athletic amenities include a 3,000-seat football stadium + press box (2,000 home/ 1,000 visitor), baseball and softball fields, practice fields, track, tennis courts and a concession building with restrooms.
The design incorporates an Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area for 160 mph wind resistance and an emergency generator. “Green” design strategies were utilized. The project was designed and documented with Revit® Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. The modeling process helped the A/E/CM team manage costs and provide the highest possible quality for the project. Renderings from the model helped stakeholders visualize the design. BIM information was coordinated with the CM’s D-profiler software for preconstruction services.
